Wold Newton Community Centre (formerly the Wesleyan Chapel)
Wold Newton Community Centre is a charming and intimate venue, housed in a converted former Wesleyan chapel that became a centre for the village in the early 1980s. Nestled in the heart of Wold Newton in the East Riding of Yorkshire, it provides a cosy, character-filled space well suited to smaller parties, soft play hire, and community gatherings.
Why it’s ideal for children’s parties & play setups:
Compact but flexible space The hall has been described as “small but perfectly formed,” offering an environment ideal for more intimate events or where you want closer interaction between children and hosts. Without large halls or vast expanses, care must be taken in planning layout and safety buffers.
Onsite kitchen facilities A small kitchen enables basic catering or party food service on site.
Accessible village location Situated on Front Street in Wold Newton, it is easy for guests to find and well situated within the village community.
Community atmosphere & heritage The building’s history (as a chapel repurposed for local use) adds charm and local heritage to any event.
Capacity & constraints The hall’s capacity is modest — around 50–60 people standing or seated without tables, and fewer when using tables. Because of its size, large bouncy castles or very large soft play setups may not be feasible; medium or compact equipment is more realistic.
